SPR Principal Katie Ghilain To Speak About Federal Permitting Challenges for US Offshore Wind

On July 23, 2020, SPR Principal Katie Ghilain will present at the Business Network for Offshore Wind’s Internal Partnering Forum (IPF), the leading technical conference for offshore wind in the US. Katie will speak on the panel entitled “Federal Permitting Challenges Facing the Development of Offshore Wind in the US” along with technical experts and a representative from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).  Katie and her fellow panelists will present multidisciplinary insights into the federal regulatory process, particularly the implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as it pertains to the permitting of offshore wind projects. The technical experts will discuss the analysis of marine resources, underwater noise, cultural and historic resources, and air quality. Katie will provide the legal perspective, and BOEM’s representative will provide the agency perspective as the lead federal agency for the NEPA review of offshore wind projects.
