SPR Announces Promotion of Maggie Macdonald to Principal

Sive, Paget and Riesel is pleased to announce the election of Maggie Macdonald as a principal.

“Maggie began her career as a summer associate at Sive, Paget and Riesel; her skilled and scholarly advocacy over the years has greatly benefited the Firm’s clients and significantly contributed to the growth of the Firm,” said SPR co-founder Dan Riesel.

Maggie has worked on several high-profile Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (Superfund) cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  She advises national real estate investment and corporate clients on matters relating to environmental risk management, and counsels sophisticated real estate developers on environmental due diligence in conjunction with complex transactions.  In addition, Maggie has developed a local practice in New York City advising developers and working closely with consultants on compliance with the Mayor’s Office of Environmental Remediation E-Designation requirements.

Maggie’s practice also includes environmental impact review and brownfield cleanup matters, as well as enforcement under federal environmental laws including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

Maggie has been active in both the New York City Bar Association International Environmental Law Committee and New York State Bar Association Energy and Environmental Law Section. The 2021 Chambers USA guide recognized Maggie as “a notable associate in the environmental litigation space,” and Super Lawyers has honored her as a Rising Star each year from 2016 to 2021.
